The Sigma 18-35mm has amazing wide-open performance that the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G can only catch up to at f/2.8, and even then it cannot quite match Sigma's corner performance. The Nikon 35mm f/1.8G produces impressive center and mid-frame sharpness at f/2.8 and smaller, but its corners cannot match what Sigma can do at any aperture.
